This Privacy Code describes what information we collect about you, how we use that information and the legislation that protects your information. We collect some of your personal informationWhen you open a Roam e-TAG or e-PASS account or buy a Roam Visitor's e-PASS, we collect and keep a record of some of your personal information. This may include your: - name
- address
- phone numbers
- email address
- fax number
- bank account number
- credit card details
- Number Plate Details including the state and number displayed on your vehicle's number plates
- vehicle make, model, colour and year.
We will only collect personal information that is relevant to our business relationship with you. If you do not provide the information that we ask for we may not be able to provide you with the product or service you have requested. When you open a Roam e-TAG or e-PASS account or buy a Roam Visitor's e-PASS from one of our retailers (such as Australia Post or at a Touch Kiosk), our retailer will collect your personal information and send it to us. Our retailer should not use your personal information for any other purpose. How we use your personal informationWe will use your personal information for legitimate functions and activities including calculating and charging your tolls, operating and maintaining your account, assisting you in your enquiries, audit reporting and fulfilling our legal requirements. We may exchange your personal information with our contractors, where those contractors assist us on legitimate functions and activities including calculating and charging your tolls, operating and maintaining your account, assisting you in your enquiries, audit reporting and fulfilling our legal requirements. For example: our call centre operators will need access to your personal information to assist you with your phone enquiries; and the supplier we use to print and send statements will need access to your personal information so that your statements can be printed and sent to you. Our contractors may not use your personal information for any purpose other than fulfilling their obligations to us. Where you are in payment default, we may exchange your personal information with credit reporting agencies. We may use your personal information to inform you about other products or services offered by Roam. If you don't want to receive this information please let us know. We may use your personal information to research and develop new products and services, and conduct business planning. We will not use your personal information for any other purpose unless you agree to that use. We hold your personal information securelyWe will take reasonable steps and use up-to-date techniques and processes (such as firewalls, encryption and passwords) to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access, modification and disclosure. Retention and destruction of personal informationWe have a legal obligation to retain our business data for a period no less than seven years. We may retain your personal information after your contract with Roam (your Customer Service Agreement) has expired. In this case your personal information will be protected in the same way as the personal information of customers whose contracts have not expired. If we destroy data that is older than seven years and which includes personal information we will do so by taking reasonable steps and using up-to-date techniques and processes. What happens when you drive a vehicle registered with Roam on Westlink M7If your vehicle has been registered on the Roam Register and you drive your vehicle on Westlink M7, we will record your trip including: - monitoring and recording your e-TAG as it passes through each electronic toll point; and/or
- photographing your vehicle and its number plate as it passes through each electronic toll point.
We will use this information to calculate the correct Westlink M7 toll so that we can charge the toll to your account. What happens when you drive a vehicle registered with Roam on other Eligible Toll RoadsIf your vehicle has been registered on the Roam Register and you drive your vehicle on other Eligible Toll Roads, the operators of the other Eligible Toll Roads will record information about your trip and send it to Roam so that we can accurately charge you for your trips. The operators of the other Eligible Toll Roads should not use this information for any other purpose. Driving with a Roam e-TAGIf you are driving with a Roam e-TAG, the operators of the other Eligible Toll Roads will only record your e-TAG and trip information. Your e-TAG identification number and trip information are forwarded to us so that we can charge your account accordingly. We do not send any of your personal information to the operator of the other Eligible Toll Road. Driving with a Roam e-PASSIf you are driving with a Roam e-PASS, the operators of the other Eligible Toll Roads will record your Number Plate Details and trip information. The operators of the other Eligible Toll Roads may check to see whether your Number Plate details are on the Roam Register and if so, they will send your Number Plate details and trip information to us so that we can charge your e-PASS Account accordingly. We do not send any of your personal information to the operator of the other Eligible Toll Road in this instance. Paying by cash at a toll boothIf you pay by cash at a toll booth, the operator of the other Eligible Toll Road may still record your Number Plate Details and trip information - in this case the information will not be sent to Roam. What happens if your vehicle is registered with another electronic tolling service providerIf your vehicle has been registered with another electronic tolling service provider and you drive that registered vehicle on Westlink M7, Roam will record information about your trip and send it to your electronic tolling service provider so that you can be accurately charged for your trips. Roam will not use this information for any other purpose. Roam will not request and will not receive any of your personal information from your electronic tolling service provider. What happens if you drive a vehicle that is not registered with any electronic tolling service provider on Westlink M7If your vehicle is not registered with Roam or any other electronic tolling service provider and if you drive that vehicle on Westlink M7, Roam will send the Number Plate Details of your vehicle and trip details to the Roads and Maritime Services (NSW). The Roads and Maritime Services (NSW) may arrange to send a violation notice to the registered owner of the vehicle as recorded on their databases. The registered owner of the vehicle may then pay a deferred toll or may submit a statutory declaration containing the details of the driver of the vehicle who made the trip. If the deferred toll is not paid by the due date, the Number Plate Details and trip details may be sent to the Infringement Processing Bureau of the NSW Police, who may issue the owner or driver with a fine. What happens if you drive a vehicle that has been suspended or cancelled from the Roam RegisterIf your vehicle has been suspended or cancelled from the Roam Register and you make a trip on Westlink M7 or another Eligible Toll Road, your Number Plate Details and trip details may be sent to the Infringement Processing Bureau of the NSW Police who may issue the owner or driver with a fine.
