Your e-TAG should beep when you travel through toll points. If it doesn't, you'll be charged a vehicle matching fee. The tag health check will determine if your tag is correctly installed or if it needs to be replaced:
  • Is your tag beeping?   Change

  • If your tag is still in the vehicle, you'll need to check it's correctly installed. Is your tag installed in a holder on the windscreen?   Change

  • Great! Your tag is working as it should. Start again
    A quick guide to the beeps: 
    1 beep = everything is okay 
    3 beeps = low balance, make a top-up 
    4 beeps = account suspended, urgent action on your account is required to keep it active and avoid fees 
  • To avoid the vehicle matching fee, ensure you travel with a tag. Start again
    If you removed your tag on purpose, that's OK, however you will incur a vehicle matching fee when you travel. To avoid the fees, ensure you travel with a tag.

    To order a holder:

    1. Log into your account
    2. Select 'Tags' under 'My Account'
    3. Choose 'Order tag holder'
  • If the tag is in your vehicle and correctly installed, but isn't beeping, it needs to be replaced. Start again

    Please note that if you originally paid a deposit for the tag, a $40 deposit is still required for your replacement tag, but this will be refunded to your account when we receive the old tag.

    If your tag is leased, a replacement will be issued. If the old tag is not returned within 21 days a $40 non-return fee will be charged to your account
